In 1993 the U.C.A. has started a 3 years and 6 months Diploma Course in Physiotherapy which was upgraded into a B.P.T Degree Course in the year 1998 which is for a 4 years academic and 6 months of compulsory rotatory internship training. This B.P.T. Degree course is recognized by the Govt. of Tamilnadu and the college is affiliated to The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai – 32.
The degree Course is conducted in accordance with the regulations and syllabus formulated by The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai – 32. The subjects taught include Social Sciences, Basic Medical Sciences, Physiotherapy subjects and Rehabilitation Sciences.
“ENSEMBLE”, an Intercollegiate Continuing Medical Education Program is held at our College in the month of April every Year. Students from various Physiotherapy Colleges in and around Tamilnadu are invited to Participate in this Program. Scientific Paper Presentation and Poster Presentation Competition are conducted among the Students.
Our Students are also encouraged to Participate in the C.M.E Programs, Paper Presentation, Poster Presentation and Quiz Competition Programs held in other Colleges and Universities. Our students are also sent to various Hospitals in Chennai for Clinical Exposure.

Hello everyone, I am Arun Joseph and I undertook the Bachelor of Physiotherapy programme from 1999-2003 at the UCA College of Paramedical Sciences. I am currently a Physiotherapy Lecturer at the Coventry University and also a doctoral student at the University of Oxford, UK.
The teaching in UCA was undertaken by retired professors from Madras Medical College and was exceptional. The Physiotherapy lecturers were professional and knowledgeable and helped to understand the core skills that was required to practise the profession with integrity and adept clinical reasoning. My special thanks to everyone who had contributed to my undergraduate education in this institute which was a solid foundation for rest of my career as a critical care/ respiratory physiotherapist.

When I travel back the memory lane and think about the UCA days, I can’t help but smile. Founder member of UCA, late Mrs. K.C. Tharian recommended me to enroll at UCA. I still remember walking into UCA’s first facility and requesting Prof T.B. Ramanathan to issue me an application form to enroll in the physiotherapy program. His reply with a bright smile on his face was “it is not yet ready, please come back after few weeks”.
The challenges, turmoil and insecurities I faced as the first batch students at UCA has made me evolve into a confident and stoic professional. Today I’m able to sit in a global forum with pioneers in the Biopharmaceutical industry to discuss efficacy and patient safety with confidence; because of the training and guidance I received at UCA. I am Godwin Vimalraj Stephen, I am a Registered Senior Physiotherapist licensed under Dubai Health Authority working in Dubai UAE. I'm privileged to be a part of the UCA family 2002 batch. I'm proud to be a student of UCA college of Physiotherapy as I have gained my entire theoretical and practical knowledge in the 4 and half years bachelor program provided by this institution. The faculties were extremely outstanding with great Knowledge and experience and all the visiting faculties were retired Professors from MMC Chennai who were legends in their specialities. I am really glad that I have been a part of this institution as a student and a faculty, which has nourished me to an extent where I could shine in my career in India and as well as abroad.

There were so many good things about my time at the College, knowledgeable teachers and extremely friendly environment. My professors helped us to perform to our best capabilities. My time at UCA has equipped me with excellent skills along with the academic knowledge to handle, execute and manage various clinical, non-clinical and managerial situations. We were the first batch of private college physiotherapy student to undergo clinical training in a government hospital at Rajiv Gandhi Government General hospital, Chennai in the year 2004. The Internship period was awesome! We saw the textbooks being converted into live in the hospital in form of patients.
I would give the credit of my present achievement to my college and professors. The discipline and knowledge that I gained in this institute is still helping me reach heights in my career. The excellent standard and quality of education I received became even more obvious when I stepped out of college and in the professional world.

UCA College of Physiotherapy, was my first steppingstone in my career. We had a very peaceful environment which insisted us to learn in the field of physiotherapy, also the extracurricular activities conducted by UCA was the most memorable events.I thought completing UG will provide me good knowledge and more luxury, but the fact was that my teachers taught me the real time difficulties and hurdles which I would face post completing my UG, that lead me to fight against the obstacles to become a success person in my career.
I should really be thankful to all my staff's, especially to late Mrs. Jecanth Arulmani mam, Principal and Mr. Pasupathi sir, Vice Principal for encouraging and supporting throughout my course. I completed my Internship in Kilpauk Medical College which was one of my best exposure I ever had till date.
